We build ventures for sub-Saharan Africa.

Fottal is a venture builder headquartered in Philadelphia. We engineer software and hardware platforms centrally, then deploy them country by country with local CEO-partners who hold equity and run day-to-day operations.

Why we exist

Africa's markets are fragmented. No single playbook works across borders. Good products fail because local execution breaks down, not because the product itself is bad.

Traditional VCs write checks and move on. Consulting firms advise but don't own outcomes. Single-country operators build something that works in one place and can't move it anywhere else.

We saw the gap. The missing piece isn't capital or talent alone. It's the operating system that connects them: a shared platform, a proven model, and a local leader with real ownership.

What Fottal is

A platform-led venture builder

Centrally engineered, locally operated. One core platform across multiple ventures and markets.

A co-builder, not a backer

Fottal holds equity and provides tools. The CEO-partner holds equity and drives revenue. Both sides have skin in the game.

Built for multi-market from day one

Our primary focus is West Africa: Nigeria, Ghana, Côte d'Ivoire, Senegal, Guinea, Mali, and Benin. From there we expand into high-opportunity Sub-Saharan markets including Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, South Africa, and Ethiopia.

Not a consulting firm

We own and operate. We don't hand off a report and walk away.

Not a traditional VC

We stay embedded in every venture. We don't fund and disappear.

Not a one-country play

If a venture can't work in three or more markets, we don't pursue it.

How we operate

These aren't aspirational. They're rules we follow today.

Three markets or no go

Every venture must be viable in at least three African markets before we commit. If it only works in one place, it's not a Fottal venture.

One platform, every venture

All ventures run on the Fottal platform. Standardization is how we move fast without breaking things across borders.

Revenue before expansion

No venture launches in a new market until the previous one shows real traction and revenue. We prove it works, then we move.

Local ownership

Every market has a CEO-partner with real equity. They make the decisions on the ground. No remote-only operations.

Governance integrity

Clean books, clear reporting, no grey areas. We build businesses that can withstand scrutiny at any stage.

Full transparency

Real-time financial visibility across all ventures. No information gaps between headquarters and partners.

The team

Backgrounds in finance, marketing, data, and operations across West Africa and the US.

Our commitment

We don't build for quick exits. Every venture we launch is designed to last, to generate real revenue, and to create real value in the markets we serve.

We stay embedded. We share the risk. We measure success by the businesses our CEO-partners build and the communities those businesses serve. That's the only metric that matters.
